- Scope and ContentHe is 23 years of age, he was born in St Cuthbert, Bedford. In November 1806 he was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of the Bedford Charity for seven years to John Applethwaite of Kimbolton in the County of Huntingdon, tailor. He served half his time with his master at Kimbolton, then his master and he parted and he worked for two years with Thomas Burt of St Paul, Bedford, tailor as a journeyman. He neer gave or allowed his master John Applethwaite any part of his earnings, nor did he consider himself his apprentice. Then heenlisted into the 1st Regiment of Royal Marines at Chatham and has not done any act to his knowlege or belief whereby to gain a settlement.. He was married last Thursday 27th instant at ST Cuthbert, Bedford to Eleanor Nicholls.
