- Scope and ContentHe is about 25 years of age, was born in Elstow. When he was about 14 years of age he let himself to John Mawbey of St Paul, Bedford, victualler at the wages of four pounds. He continued in Mr Mawbeys service two years and received five guineas wages for the last year. On quitting Mr Mawbeys service he went to live with Mrs Mary Blackshaw at the sign of the Red Lion, St Paul, as boot boy & waiter. He continued with Mrs Blackshaw upwards of a year. He has lived at several other places as a waiter but never for a whole year at any one time. He has not done any other act to the best of his knowledge & belief whereby to gain a settlement. He was married yesterday morning at St Paul, Bedford to Mary Ann Clarke.
