  • Scope and Content
    He was born at Ampthill and is of the age of 23 years. At the age of 9 years Examinant let himself to Charles Devereux of Silsoe, bricklayer, as a servant to serve from that time until the age of 21 years. No written instrument was prepared. The Master was to pay Examinant seven shillings a week for the first five years of the term, ten shillings a week the six following years and twelve shillings a week for the last year. Examinant served his master under teh above hiring in various parishes and during the last three months of his service he worked and lodged entirely in the parish of Ampthill. He hath since done no act whereby to gain a settlement. He was married at St Paul, Bedford on 18th November instant to Catharine Goodman.
