Scope and Content
He was born in Clophill where his father James Maddams lived and was a parishioner. When he was about 15 years of age he let himself to Colonel Newman of Clophill as his servant and continued in such service til last Lady Day twelvemonth when he hired a house and some land in the parish where he now lives. He was married last Tuesday 19th instant at St Paul, Bedford to Mary Bettles.
