He was born in Biggleswade in the County of Bedford where his father William Mantell resides and is a parishioner. He is about 23 years of age. He was never bound by Indenture but has worked for his father William Mantell of Biggleswade, tailor, from 1803 til June 1813 being 10 years. He has since worked at different places but has not done any act to the best of his knowledge or belief whereby to gain a settlement in his own right. He was married Wednesday October 13th 1813 at St Paul, Bedford to Alice Taylor.
