    He is 53 years of age. He was born in Hawnes [Haynes]. On 3rd October 1774 he was put out apprentice by Indenture (now produced) to John Boone of Ampthill, tailor, for seven years. A sum of twelve pounds twelve shillings was paid to his master and the duty of six shillings and threepence paid thereon. He served the whole of his apprenticeship with his master at Ampthill. He worked as a journeyman tailor in Ampthill til about three years ago when he came to reside in Bedford where he has continued ever since. He has not done any act whereby to gain a settlement in his own right since his apprenticeship. He and his family have been several times relieved by the overseers fo Ampthill. He was married 25 years ago at Ampthill to Susanna, his late wife, deceased, by whom he has living five children, namely George aged 22 and a soldier abroad, Elizabeth aged 19, married to John Hudson of Luton, labourer. Ann aged 18, Mary aged 17 and Catherine aged 16 which three have aways lived with him and have never sone any act to gain a settlement in their own right. His daughter Catherine is now ill of an infectious fever, which renders it dangerous for a Magistrate to examine her as to her settlement, and she is now chargeable to the parish of St Paul.
