- Scope and ContentHe went from Newton to the fire at Mr Brownings on Wednesday 2 November and at Riseley was overtaken by Childs and Twelvetree. They then went on with him to the fire. They had no bucket or waterpail with them. They all assisted at the fire. Childs and Twelvetree returned from the fire about 4pm on Thursday afternoon. When they left the premises they had nothing with them. They walked together down the road until they came to Keysoe Brook from near which much of the water had been faetched for the fire. They then went into a ploughed field in the occupation of Mr Browning in Keysoe, and they came out fo the field each with a waterpail in his hand. They went home together. He asked them how they came by the pails. They said they found them. He told them they had better take them back. They said they had found them and should take them home. [Response to Eli Childs] He did not hear Childs say he would take the pails home and if any enquiry should be made the pails should be given up.
