Records of the Bell family of Bedford

When Louis Bell retired from Bedford Borough Police in 1909 he moved, with his family, to Newcastle upon Tyne to take up a post as an inspector for the NSPCC. His daughter, Muriel Bell, the mother of the donor, was employed by a local milliner in Newcastle until she married Tom Longworth. The donor was born in Newcastle in 1923, but shortly afterwards the whole family moved south when his father Tom, who worked for the G.P.O. was posted to London.
