  • Title
    Great Barford property. Lease: (i) John Polhill, Howbury Hall, esquire (ii) Samuel Teanby, Thomas Teanby, both of Killingholm, Lincolnshire, farmers. (i) leases to (ii) farm in Great Barford called Birchfield Farm (250 acres) and farmhouse etc. Term 6 years. Rent £320 per annum. £10 per acre meadow or pasture ploughed up, £10 for every acre sown with cereals more than 2 years together without fallowing or sowing with turnips, clover etc. Other covenants and conditions as in X 668/203 to 213.     Other covenants and conditions as in X 668/203 to 213: Reserving to (i) all timber and trees, mines and stone quarries and gaming rights. Glass windows of farm to be kept in good repair, and lead work, solder and thatch of building, going geers in pump and well. Also gates, stiles, posts, rails, watercourses, bridges etc. (ii) will bank up 80 rods of ditching or banking per year. (ii) to find one wagon load of trussed straw for stables of (i), and another for thatching cottages of (i) at 20s per load. (ii) to level 5 acres of banky pasture land. Also all new anthills and molehills. (ii) will not lop any trees or timber. Will new lay hedges, make good fences, preserve the game. (i) will repay to (ii) all costs in connection with expenses of labourers employed in underdraining the arable land. (i) to keep buildings insured against fire. Sum paid to be reimbursed by (ii).
