- Scope and ContentHe is about 36 years of age, was born in the parish of Cardington. He was bound apprentice by Indenture (now produced) to James Watford of Eaton Socon, blacksmith from 26th March 1791 till he was 21 years of age the he resided in the parish of Eaton Socon for six years and then went and worked with Mr Payne of Oakley and resided in that parish and lodged with Mr Payne for above a year. He received his wages of Mr Payne and carried it to his master Watford until the expiration ofhis apprenticeship. He has a wife Elizabeth and five children namely Ann aged eleven years, James aged nine years, Samuel six years, Charles four years and Joseph two years. This examinant hath not to the best of his knowledge or belief ever done any act since his apprenticeship whereby to gain a settlement.
