- Scope and ContentHe was born in the parish of Chadderton in the County of Lancaster. He is 32 years of age or thereabouts. He lived with father who rented a farm at Chadderton til he was 9 years old when his father died. He worked as a labourer with many different persons at Chadderton until he was 24 and then enlisted in the Lancashire Militia where he continued until April 1809 when he volunteered in the 16th regiment of Foot but he has not done any other act wherby to gain a settlement in his own right to the best of his knowledge or belief. He was married at the parish church of St Paul, Bedford 3rd December 1810 to his now wife Ann late Ann Newman by whom he has one child living namely Mary of the age of four months or thereabouts.
