- Scope and ContentJohn Dickinson was born in Duke Street, in the parish of St. Mary Overy in the borough of Southwark, where his father then resided. His father belonged to the parish of St. Sepulchre, Northampton. In June 1791 John Dickinson let himself as a yearly servant to James Palmer, 65 Cornhill, in the parish of St. Peter, Cornhill, London, haberdasher, at wages of 12 guineas and served two and three-quarter years. On 28 April 1795 he married Catherine Spencer at St. Mary’s church, Bedford.
