- Scope and ContentIn 1775, let himself for a year to Richard Hutching of Farflett, Yorkshire, farmer, for wages of 10 guineas, and then served three more years. He then let himself to Miss Ann Markham of Howden, Yorkshire, at wages of 12 guineas and served for two years. Ann Markham then married Richard Hutching and William Harrison continued in their service for two more years. He married Mary Thorp at Howden in 1782 and rented a house at Howden for £7 and paid rates. Just prior to his examination in April 1795, he let himself as a yearly servant to Mr Livius of St. Mary’s, Bedford [“being a” – deleted; “but no” – also deleted] “then [was – in later handwriting] a married man.” [See folio 17].
