  • Scope and Content
Rouse knows Randall's views on the Fiscal Question - Rouse and he both made temperate speeches on the question Randall asked them to vote Conservative as Conservatives and not make the Fiscal Question a test issue. Ignored and Randall bundled out as candidate. "They.....rushed off to Chamberlain to find them a red hot candidate." Neither assisted or opposed in election "as a Free Trader (yet willing to give way as far as Balfour was then leading us)." Fiscal Question prime issue of election. Hopes to see Orlebar in Parliament will give him all the support he can "when this ridiculous dream of Chamberlain will no longer divide the Unionist Party."
