  • Scope and Content
I was married to my late husband James Phillips on 10 April 1805 at the parish church of St Pauls, Bedford. For the first seven years after our marriage we lived in St Pauls, Bedford. We then went to Flitwick where we resided about ten years.During our residence at Flitwick we sometimes received relief from that parish when my husband was out of work. From Flitwick we returned to Bedford where he resided ever since until his death on Saturday last, 4th February instant. He died in the parish of St Cuthbert where I am now residing. We have resided in that parish for the last twelve years and during such residence my husband has often had relief for himselfand his family from the parish officers of Flitwick. My husband was laid up in St Cuthbert of a bad leg for six or seven weeks during which we had as much as ten shillings a week from that parish, that might be seven years ago.I don't know that he had any relief from that parish during the last seven years. I have six children now living by my said husband - Betsy aged 30 years, Sarah aged 25 years (she is married) William Phillips and James Phillips (twins) aged 23 years, Peter aged 20 years and Abraham aged 9 years. I and my son Abraham are now chargeable to the parish of St Cuthbert.
