Born at Walton, Lancs., where father Joshua then lived. Let himself as yearly servant to John Molling, famer, West Derby, Lancs., about 1771 at a yearly wage of £3, serving Molling 2 years. Bound apprentice by Indenture to Laurence Davis, West Derby, blacksmith, for 5 years about 1773, serving whole term but believing the King’s Duty was unpaid. No other settlement. Married Ann Knight, spinster, at St. Paul’s, 3 December 1792.
