By Lease and Release - NB Lease for year has reference number D18. 1) John Payne of Tempsford Hall Esq (eldest son of Sir Gillies Payne of same place, Bart) marrying party; 2) Susanna Campbell of Blunham, widow, Elizabeth Maria Campbell (her eldest daughter) (marrying party); 3) Woollaston Pym of Hasell Hall, Clerk, Charles Brett of Mays Hill, Kent, Esquire (Trustees of marriage settlement). Annuity of £500 pa secured in the plantations of Sir Gillies Payne: their sugar works, panns, messuages, tenements etc., in the Islands of St Christopher and Nevis EXCEPT plantations, sugar works, lands etc of Sir Gillies Payne called Sandy Point Plantation in Parish of Saint Ann, Sandy Point in the Island of St Christopher (West Indies). (The Annuity was granted on 1 April 1788 by Sir Gillies Payne to son John). Terms of Trust: after John's death £300 part of £500 to Elizabeth as her jointure to bar dower. Remaining £200 to any sons of John and Elizabeth or any other woman he may marry in entail male, ultimate reversionary Peter Payne and then daughter etc. Consideration £3000 paid by Susanna on Elizabeth's behalf. Witnesses Jeremy Fish Palmer and Thomas Kidman.
Note on dorse: ' The Marriage between Mr Payne and Miss Campbell was solemnized and Mrs Payne died without leaving issue. Mr Payne being now (29th May 1792) about being married to Miss Mary Monoux, second daughter of Sir Philip Monoux, Bart, the within mentioned Perpetual Annuity of £500 will after the marriage remain settled on the issue of it in pursuance of the within deed of settlement.'
