  • Scope and Content
She travels with her husband. She knits caps and he sells them. She was at the Black Horse at Dunstable yesterday. At about 4 or 5pm she saw James Kempson and a woman, not the prisoner, drinking together. She saw them both go out together to a stable in the back yard. They were absent nearly 1/2 hour. The woman returned first and showed to the people present 2 half crowns, which she said she had taken out the man's pocket, and that there was more in it if she [Smith] liked to go and take it. She [Smith] said she had nothing to do with the man. The woman held the money in her left hand. She was a "tallish", stout woman.
