I was born in the parish of Elstow on 11th April 1819 and am the son of Thomas Alcock of the same parish, butler to James Hillersden Colquhoun of Elstow, and Ann his wife, who were married at Newton Blossomville in the County of Buckingham. My father gained a settlement at Elstow by living and service in the family of Miss Hillersden with whom he lived several years as butler and coachman. I have done no act to gain a settlemnt in my own right. I was married on Tuesday 11th July instant at the parish church of St Mary, Bedford to Eliza Jordan of the same parish, spinster.
