I was 21 years of age on 14th July last and am the son of Daniel French late of Maulden, bricklayer and Elizabeth his wife, formerly Elizabeth Hide, spinster, who were married at the parish church of Maulden in 1821, where I was myself born. My father was a settled inhabitant of that place and derived his settlement from his father who was also a settled inhabitant there.My father also served the office of Constable for the years 1837, 1838 and 1839 for the said parish of Maulden. I have done no act to gain a settlement in my own right. I was married 23rd April last at the parish church of Potton to Ann Moore of the same parish, spinster, formerly of St Paul, Bedford.
