    i) has agreed to sell to ii) certain copyhold property and right of use of well for £520. Has agreed that £500 shall be for purchase money for property and £20 for purchase of right to use well. Now in consideration of £500 paid to i) by ii), i) at request of ii) surrenders following property held of the Manor of Great Gaddesden: 5 cottages (once 3 cottages) with bakehouse, gardens etc. adjoining at Gaddesden Row, Great Gaddesden, Hertfordshire, once in occupation of John Hawes, William Harris, Joseph Rogers, George Ambrose and William Hawes and now of John Hawes, William Aris, W Ivory, the widow Ambrose and Ann Allwood; messuage and brewhouse and storehouse etc. at Gaddeseden Row, late in occupation of George Ivory and now of James Ivory; another cottage adjoining late in occupation of William Turney and now of Joseph Ball. All above buildings were erected by said George Ivory. Site, and gardens etc. were formerly described as piece meadow ground (3 roods 20 perches), NW public road from Gaddesden Road to Hatches Farm, SW Brading Lane Spring, SE Mrs Moore Halsey, NE Sir Charles Gillies Payne as trustee for Mrs Moore Halsey; right, in common with others, to use of well to be surrendered to use of ii). Now in consideration of £20 paid to i) by ii), i) conveys and assures to ii) full right and privilege for occupiers etc. of copyhold property to take and draw water from a well situate in a freehold garden belonging to Joseph Ball near said copyhold property, ii) to pay 1/6th part of keeping said well and tackle in good repair.
