- Scope and ContentAlfred Atherton Murfin: on 31 December he went to Shrimptons for the lead. He saw Mr Shrimpton and George Spilsbury in the barn and Shrimpton gave him the lead. He took Hutchins & Farr into custody. Hutchins denied the charge and Farr said he had been given the lead by Gregory and that Hutchins had told him to take the larger piece. William Phillips: was the manager at Luton Gas Company. On 24 December they were laying down pipes in Wellington Street. He gave the order for lead to be fetched from Mr Ellerds [?] on the 23rd. It was fetched on the 24th by Gregory. The lead was used for making joints to the pipes. A contract had been made with Mr Ellerd to furnish lead for the purpose. As soon as it left Mr Ellerd's premises it became the property of the Luton Gas Company. Mr John Jones and Mr Henry Tomson are 2 directors and shareholders of the Luton Gas Company.
