I am about 22 years of age, was born in St Paul, Bedford. When I was about five years of age my father removed into St John, Bedford but never did any act to gain a settlement in that parish to my knowledge. He has been dead about fourteen years. When I was about 18 years of age my mother placed me with William Hoggard of St Peter, shoemaker to learn his trade. I worked with him about 18 months, I boarded and lodged with my mother. Since that time I have worked as a journeyman shoemaker on my account. I was married on 8th August at St Cuthbert to Ann Chenye Sleet.
