    Daniel Henman: a farmer of Kempston Hardwick. On 27 November, he missed a rick cloth from a hovel on his premises. He had previously seen it on 24 November hanging in the hovel. He next saw it on 28 November at Webbs, a marine stores dealer in Bedford. It was in one piece but had since been cut up. He kept a public house in Kempston Hardwick and the accused took some beer there on 24 November. The accused was wearing hat which Henman later was able to identify as belonging to the accused. Another part of the rick cloth was seen be him at Fanes, a marine stores dealer in Bedford. William Henman: son of Daniel Henman, residing with his father in Kempston Hardwick. He saw the accused in his father’s house on 24 November and he left between 9 and 10 o'clock at night. He saw the rick cloth hanging in the hovel on 24 November. On 27 November, he found a hat on his father premises near the hovel. He had seen the accused before he found the hat, and the accused told him he had lost is hat whilst he had laid asleep on Hardwick Hill, the night he had been at his fathers house. William Woollard: a farmer residing in Well Street, Bedford and employed by Mr Webb. The accused took some canvas to Mr Webbs, a furrier and marine stores dealer on 26 November. The accused brought some stuff he called "hard stuff", which Woollard weight and bought. Thomas Tillyard: a police constable who accompanied Mr Henman to Mr Webb's premises and afterwards they went to Mr Fane's, a marine stores dealer. The canvas was given into Tillyard's custody.
