- Scope and ContentThomas Chew of Westoning, father of the prisoner - his son came home drunk at about 12am the previous night. He began by breaking the pales before the house, then came into the house and took a chair which he threw at a table and broke it. The prisoner then held his fists up as if preparing to strike him, and he feels sure he would have done so if the policeman had not heard the row, come in and stopped him. He then desired Scott the police constable to take his son into custody. Edward Scott, police constable No.9 - he saw Jesse Chew drunk at Westoning the previous night and desired him to go home quietly. Chew said he would not. He threatened to take him into custody. Chew then ran from him and he followed him to his father's house. He saw Chew pull the pales violently down. He saw Chew take a chair and throw it at a table which was broken, also some glasses standing upon it. Chew put himself in fighting attitude to strike his father. He then took Chew into custody. Chew's language to him was very rough and his conduct very violent. Chew kicked him several times. Jesse Chew - nothing to say.
