  • Scope and Content
My maiden name was Martha Faldo; on the 18th February 1813 I was married at Marston Church to Henry Franklin by whom I have five children viz. William aged 21 years, John aged about 20 years, Ann aged about 19 years, Henry aged about 17 years, Elizabeth aged eleven years. William and John have gained settlements in their own right and are not living with me as part of my family. Ann has not gained any settlement in her own right but she is now residing in london. Henry and Elizabeth are living at home with me and have gained no settlements in their own right. My husband has deserted me, he left me in February last and I am now chargeable to the parish of St Peter, Bedford. At the time of our marriage my husband occupied a farm at Lidlington for which he paid upwards of five pounds rent a year, he occupied the same farm for about 4 years after we were married. I am certain the rent was paid. After that he rented another farm at lidlington for about three years for which he paid about the same rent. Both farms were rated for all parish rates and the rates were paid by him during his occupation. I knew my husband from the earliest of my recollection and he always resided at Lidlington until we finally left the parish about ten years ago. During his occupation he twice served the office of Overseer of Lidlington. He has done no act since he left Lidlington to gain any other settlement.
