- Scope and ContentI am about 62 years of age, was born in St Cuthbert, Bedford. When I was about 14 years of age I was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of the Bedford Charity by Indenture of apprenticeship dated 28 November 1785 for seven years to Thomas Butler of Woburn, tailor. I served the whole of my apprenticeship in the parish of Woburn. I have since worked as a journeyman tailor in London adnmany other places but have not done any other act to gain a settlement to the best of my knowledge. On 26th February 1833 I came into the possession of a small freehold estate in Castle Lane, St Paul which I sold to Mark Plackett in April last for ninety five pounds and divided the money between myself and my sister Susannah Haines who then resided in St cuthbert. I lived with her in that parish from the time I came into possession of the property until sometime after it was sold, since which time I have lived in St Paul.
