  • Admin/biog history
Prior to the setting up of the Board there were thoughts of enlarging the existing National School at Campton (see SB16 and catalogue entry for P18/29/1) The first meeting of the School Board was held on 25 March 1875. After the meeting closed Sir George Osborn announced to the meeting that he and his son Mr H J Osborn felt so deep an interest in the parishes that they were prepared to give a suitable piece of ground for the school &c. On the 22 April 1875 the school board resolved that a mixed school and classroom to accommodate 113 children should be built. On 7 January 1876 the clerk reported to the board that the conveyance of the site for the school had been executed by Sir G R Osborn and H J Osborn and was enrolled in the Court of Chancery. [SB1]
