  • Scope and Content
She is quite innocent of the money, but if he will forgive her the watch she will tell him - it was not in the box where he said the money was. There was a handkerchief out sometime ago when she was upstairs making his bed. She swept the room, lifted up the box that was not locked and saw the watch chain. She undid the paper that it was in. She thought it looked like her grandfather's watch - her uncle buried her grandmother and took the things when she died and they did not have anything. She thought she would have it as it was his, but she was not sure. She sold it to Levy. She does not know anything about the money. If he will forgive her and take what money Mr Clarke has and say no more about it he may have it.
