- Scope and ContentTo friend James Gilbert [in margin “Died February 1892”]: house and mill at St Albans, after his death, equally between 2 sisters, Mrs Barcock and Mrs Floyd and nephew Arthur Henry Cowell, in fee; to said nephew, Arthur Henry Cowell: house where I reside and all the furniture, and 2 houses adjoining and 1 house in Kirby Road and 2 pieces of land also in Kirby Road and 1 piece in Chiltern Road and 1 in West Street; to trustees: railway shares and debenture stock, on trust to transfer one half of same to sister, Mrs Barcock, and to pay dividends arising from other half to sister, Mrs Floyd for life and after her death on trust to divide same equally between nephews and nieces Arthur Henry Cowell, Timothy Norton Cowell, Alfred Barcock and Nellie Barcock; mill and land at Lacey Green, to pay rents to brother, George Cheshire, for life, and after his death, in trust for his children living at his decease; to niece, Nellie Barcock in fee: house in High Street in occupation of Mrs Weherill [Dunstable]; to nephew, Timothy Norton Cowell: £300 in Dunstable Building Society, £60 and £50 on mortgage to Mr Field and Mr Perkins respectively; to said trustees: houses in Church Street, four in High Street, 2 in West Street and 1 in Mat[t]hew Street, in trust to keep same insured and repaired and to pay rents to mother, Mrs Cheshire, for life, and after her death, to sell them and divide proceeds between sisters, Mrs Barcock and Mrs Floyd and children of deceased sister, Mrs Cowell; rest and residue of estate in trust for sale and to divide proceeds between Mrs Barcock and Mrs Floyd and nephews Arthur Henry Cowell and Timothy Norton Cowell “It being my intention that the same shall be divided into three shares for the purpose of this division”; to Mrs Barcock: pony and chaise; to Arthur Henry Cowell: other high four wheel.
