- Scope and ContentEdward Scott, police constable residing at Flitwick - on the previous day (Sunday April 25) he was at Westoning and saw Chapman standing in the street there. Chapman was drunk and making a disturbance and said he would fight any man in the parish. As he went towards him, Chapman offered to fight him. He said he did not allow fighting. Chapman then put himself in a fighting attitude and struck him on the breast. He told him he must go home out of this parish (Chapman lived at Greenfield) or he would take him to Ampthill Cage. Chapman said he would go where he liked. He took him into custody. When they got out of the village Chapman lay down and refused to go further because he would not give him any beer. He later got up, and he handcuffed him with one hand. Chapman struck him several times going down the fields. Joseph Chapman - "I never struck the complainant to my knowledge".
