- Scope and ContentI was married to my late husband James Marriott at St Peter, Bedford about February 1813 by whom I had one daughter only named Ann born 25 March 1815. My husband died at Clapham about Michaelmas 1815. I do not know where my husband was born or where he belonged but I think I have heard him say (but I am not certain) that it was by hiring and service by the year either with Mr Bazely or Mr Hilton at Clapham. My husband was employed as a roundsman in the said parish of Clapham by the overseers there from the time of our marriage to nearly the time of his death and I have received one shilling a week from the Overseers of the Poor of Clapham for several years an I continue to receive it at the present time. My daughter has lived with me nearly all her life and has never done any act to gain a settlement in her own right, She is now a singlewoman and pregnant with child.
