- Scope and ContentI am about 50 years of age, was born in Towcester in the County of Northampton. About 1810 I hired a messuage and farm in Towcester belonging to Earl Pomfret at the yearly rent of £85. I lived there about eighteen years and paid all parochial and other taxes. I was married about 23 years since at Towcester to my now wife Martha. I left Towcester about 4 years ago and engaged myself as turnkey to the Bedford Gaol by the week and received my pay weekly. I have lived there til within the last two months and have not done any act since I left Towcester to gain a settlement.
