- Scope and ContentThomas Lovell: a baker of Cranfield. Between 11 and 12 o'clock his cart was standing in his yard, loaded with bread. he had seen 14 rolls loaded by Sam Brimley, his man. When asked by the police constable if he was missing any, he discovered 5 rolls have gone. Charles Flint: as he was going up the village of Cranfield, he saw the prisoner coming down the village. He appeared to have something under his smock. When Lack reached his own yard, he saw Flint and went into the house. Flint followed and saw 3 rolls on the table, one in his hand and one in his pocket. Asked when he had got them, Lack replied he had found them in Lovell's yard.Statement of the accused: he went to Lovell's yard to purchase a penny cake. He saw one roll which he took, then he saw another, which he took. he then took the other 3.
