- Scope and ContentJohn Swift of Dunstable - about August 1830 he was hired by Mr William Stephens a linen draper at Nrothampton in the parish of All Saints for 1 year at the wages of £30 payable quarterly. He stopped with him the whole year and received his wages. At the end of the year his master was satisfied with him and said he might stop at the same wages. He stayed another 6 months then went to live at Hitchin. About 2 months later he married. He has never done anything since by which he could gain a settlement elsewhere.
