- Scope and ContentI am about 23 years of age, was born in Elstow where my father then resided and belonged. About Michaelmas 1828 I let myself to Mr Joseph Bryant of Elstow, baker, by the year at the wages of five pounds ten shillings. At Lady Day 1830 my master increased my wages to £10 a year and I quitted his service abouit February 1831 having received the whole of my wages. I have since worked as a journeyman baker with mr Ebenezer Malden of St Pauls, Bedford baker by the week to the present time, and have received my wages weekly. I have not done any other act to gain a settlement to the best of my knowledge. I was on the 15th instant married at St Peter, Bedford to Hannah Allen.
