I am 25 years of age, was born in Eaton Socon where my father James Hewitt then resided and belonged. He obtained his settlement by birth. When I was eighteen years of age I was placed out apprentice to George Fareley of Eynesbury in the County of Huntingdon, bricklayer for three years by a written agreement. I was to receive from my Master (to find myself in board, lodging and clothing) six shillings a week for the first year, seven shillings a week for the second year and eight shillings a week for the third year. I worked for my master at Eynesbury and other places the whole of my time except the last five weeks but I always lodged with my father at Eaton Socon. i have not done any other act to gain a settlement to the best of my knowledge. I was on 17th instant married at St Paul to Hannah Mann.
