    Samuel Quenby: on rising on 10 May he discovered he was missing some fowls. He found the heads of 2 of them. He called for the policeman who came next day. He told the policeman he suspected Samuel Taylor, as he had seen him on his premises the previous Wednesday. Taylor had no business to be about the premises, but he worked for Quenby the previous year. James Worsley: following information he went to the house of Samuel Taylor in Flitton and told him of the charge. Taylor’s wife went up stairs and Worsley followed. Upstairs he found some feathers which were later identified by Lewis Quenby as those of the missing fowls. Daniel Hazzard: following information he went to the house of Samuel Taylor in Flitton and told him of the charge. He asked what time Taylor had left Gravenhurst on Friday and he was told between 10 and 11. On searching the pantry he found a portion of a dead fowl. On searching the kitchen he found the portion of 2 fowls which had been cooked. Taylor said that he had taken 2 fowls from Quenby. Lewis Quenby: on 10 May he rose at his normal our and went with his father. He found the heads of 2 fowls and another dead one. On 12 May he was shown some feathers by Worsley which he was able to identify as those of the missing fowls.Statement of the accused : nothing to say
