Will of Maria Garrett, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, spinster: ... to Ellen Anne Southam, daughter of William Paxton Reading Southam, Dunstable, auctioneer - £400 at 21 and to be placed at interest until then, which may be used for her benefit if executor so decides; ... to William Paxton Reading Southam - residue of personal estate on trust to convert into money. Proceeds to be invested, one-third part to be paid to each of her sisters, Sarah Southam, Elizabeth Sells and Sophia Garrett for life. Then to be divided between said William Paxton Reading Southam and nephew, Alfred Jonathan Sells, in equal shares. If desired William Paxton Reading Southam may retain monies in his own hands, and pay interest at 5% per annum; - hereditaments vested in testator by way of trust or mortgage upon the trusts involved.
