- Scope and ContentI was eighteen years old last December, was born in Goldington where my father and mother lived but belonged to Pavenham by servitude. At St Neots Statute 1828 I let myself to Mr William Wiles of Colmworth, farmer, to look after his cows by the year at the a wages of four pounds. I went into such service three days after Old Michaelmas and continued there until a month before Old Michaelmas Day 1829. We parted so soon because I should not belong to Colmworth and my Master paid me three pounds fifteen shillings whith which I was quite satisfied and left him very willingly. I went directly to work by the day with Mr James Brazier at Goldington, farmer. I have not done any act since to gain a settlement. Last Christmas I went to Pavenham for relief and the overseers of the Parish there took me into their parish house and maintained me for about six weeks. I enlisted on the 12th instant into the 4th or King's Own Regiment of Foot at Turvey in this County and was on Monday last attested at Northampton. I was this morning married at St Cuthbert to Sarah Fairey.
