    Sarah Luck: kept a stall for her husband in Leighton Buzzard for the sale of new and second hand clothes. On 8 April around 3 o'clock the accused came to the stalling asking for a gown. She showed her a gown but the accused said she wanted a cheaper one. She told her husband to give her one from the other side of the stall and in speaking to him, turned her head from the prisoner. On turning back she saw the accused putting something under her shawl in a hurried manner. Webb said she was call again and left. Webb had gone about 10 yards when Luck stopped her and asked to see what she had under her shawl. On looking she found a shawl which had previously been on the stall close to where the prisoner had stood. Luck took hr to the bell public house and called for the police. Whilst waiting Webb put the shawl on the table and said she would have it. The police constable Joanna Webb into custody. Thomas Worsley: whilst on duty in Leighton Buzzard he was called to the Bell to take a woman into custody. Mrs Luck accused Mrs Webb of stealing a shawl, the property of John Luck, her husband. Mrs Webb was asked if she took the shawl and she said she did not. However whilst taking her to Woburn, she did acknowledge to Worsley that she had taken it.
