Folio.236 - 237 Catherine Mortimer, wife of Henry Mortimer of St Paul, Bedford as to the legal settlement of her son Thomas Mortimer.

On 19th July 1821 I was brought to bed of a male bastard child at the house of my father John Taylor in the parish of Lavendon, County of Buckingham. I was at that time a singlewoman. My said son Thomas Mortimer is the same bastard child wherewith I was brought to bed. he has lived with me from the time of his birth to the present ans has never done any act to gain settlement in his own right. He is now actually chargeable to the parish of St Paul.
