    Edward Stratton: farming bailiff to the Rev John Alingtonin. There were about 120 sheep belong to Alington in a field called the Glebe in Little Barford. On 11 November, one was gone. The skin produced by the constable was that of an Alington sheep as it had the brand on it. Robert Hart: he obtained a warrant to search the house of William Moran. A pan of mutton was found. James Baker: a shepherd for Rec Alington. He left the 120 sheep on Sunday afternoon but on Monday one was gone. He saw a sheep skin. this was had into the police. Charles Sibley: the mutton and skin were left in his custody. James Brown: a Butcher of St Neots: He matched the mutton to the skin and the mutton left on the skin. He was certain the skin and mutton belonged to the same sheep, and the cut had not been done by a butcher as it was roughly cut.
