- Scope and ContentGeorge Lacey, police constable no.11, Bedfordshire Rural Police - on Saturday night he was on duty in the street of Cranfield, in plain clothes. He saw William Odell in the street without a coat. Odell asked if he was the police. When he said he was Odell used bad language to him. He told Odell to go home and go to bed as he was drunk. He walked near Odell until he went inside his own gate. He stood outside - he was only persuading him to go home and go to bed, and did not touch him or use any bad language to him. Odell turned round suddenly, struck him in the breast and knocked him down. When he got up he collared him and they struggled. Odell tore his waistcoat into two parts and got away. William Odell - he wsa not drunk and did not use bad language. Lacey came in his gate and collared him. No blow was struck by either of them. They "scuffled about". No oath was used.
