    Inquisition taken at Bedford in the country of Bedford on the 20th October in the 19th year of the reign of king Henry VI after the conquest before Edmund Hampden Escheator of the lord king in the county aforesaid by virtue of a writ of the said lord king to the same escheator and this Inquisition was made by the oath of William Faldo John Foke John Cok William Hunte Nicholas Carleton John Sturmyn John Palle John Pope John Sweyn John Pelle William Whityng and Roger Bake' of Estnelstowe who were sworn and who say on their oath that Elizabeth who was the wife of Warin Walgrave deceased named in the said writ held on the she died in country aforesaid in dower hereditarily from Giles Daubeney knight brother and heir of John Daubeney deceased late the husband of the said Elizabeth a third part of two parts of a third part of the manor of Kempton with appurts in the country aforesaid from an assignment of John Gyffard Escheator of the lord Henry late king of England ''avi'' grandfather of the present lord king that is to say a third part of two parts of a third part of the manor aforesaid one chamber ''subtus'' (beneath/behind) the great high chamber next the little gate of lower garden and one high chamber at the end of the chapel on the west side with one granary there ''subtus'' (under/behind) the same chamber and another chamber at the end of the long stable on the north part next the bridge standing within the said manor there and also the third part of the great grang on the west side with a third part of La Rykeyerd together with another chamber called Baylly chamber with one little stable ''subtus'' (under/behind) the same chamber and another chamber at the end of the long stable, which is worth nothing annually beyond reprises. Also a third part of two parts of a dovecote which is worth annually beyond reprises 21d and also a third part of two parts of a third part of the manor aforesaid with a coneywarren and the ''alta porta'' (upper gate) of la Conynger which is worth annually beyond reprises 3s 4d and also a third part of two parts of the several water called Ouse which is worth annually beyond reprises 2s, and also the said Elizabeth held on the day she died in dower by the assignment from the said John Gyffard late Escheater one rood and 13 perches and 5 feet under Le Gannok as from one acre there which is worth annually beyond reprises 2d and also one acre of land 1 1/2 roods, 11 perches and 2 feet of land as from one acre one rood 19 perches 6 feet lying there which is worth annually beyond reprises 2d, and also 1 rood 13 perches 5 1/2 feet as from one acre of land on Refurlange which is worth annually beyond reprises 2d, and also she held on the day she died in dower lying in the same furlong by the assignment of the said Escheator 3 acres 1 rood 22 perches 3 1/2 feet of land as from ten acres of land 16 perches 11 feet in le Hangyngforlonge which is worth annually beyond reprises 12d. And also the said Elizabeth held on the day she died one acre 2 roods 8 perches 14 1/2 feet of land as from 4 ½ acres of land 16 perches 11 feet under le Hangyngforlange which is worth annually beyond reprises 4d. And also 3 roods 22 perches 3 ½ feet as from 2 ½ acres of land 26 perches 11 feet at Waterbuttes in Le Hamme which is worth annually beyond reprises 2d. And also 1 ½ acres 8 perches 14 ½ feet of land as from 4 ½ acres of land 26 perches 11 feet lying on Le Porthille which is worth annually beyond reprises 4d. And also 1 rood 13 perches 5 feet as from one acre laying on Le Blechefeld which is worth annually beyond reprises 1d. And also 4 acres 1 ½ roods 11 perches 2 feet of land as from 13 acres 1 rood 13 perches 5 ½ feet as they lie together in three parcels on Posselowe which is worth annually beyond reprises 2s. And also 4 acres of land as from 12 acres of land lying in Rygwayforlong in le Inhoo and in le Buttes in three parcels lying together worth annually beyond reprises 12d. And also she held on the day of her death in dower hereditarily as aforesaid by the assignment of the said Escheator 2 acres 3 roods 17 perches 12 ½ feet of land as from 8 acres 3 ½ roods 14 perches 5 feet as in 3 parcels of land adjoining together in Le Outhoo which is worth annually beyond reprises 8d. And also the said Elizabeth held on the day she died in dower hereditarily as aforesaid by the assignment of the said John Gyffard 2 acres 3 ½ roods 11 perches 2 feet of land as from 8a 3r 13 perches 6 feet as it lies in three pieces of land lying separately at Kyppyscroft which is worth annually beyond reprises 6d. And also she held on the day of her death in dower by the aforesaid assignment hereditarily, as aforesaid, 15 ½ acres of land, 13 perches and 5 ½ feet as from 46 acres in divers separate furlongs lying both in Eastbrook and in Westrok there which is worth yearly beyond reprises 2s 6d. And also 2 acres 35 perches 9 feet as from 6 ½ acres 26 perches 11 feet lying in two pieces on Le Ridyng at Le Boxe which is worth annually in all outgoings beyond reprises 6d. And also she held on the day of her death in dower by the aforesaid assignment hereditarily, as aforesaid, 3 quarters 1 perch 6 ½ feet of pasture as from 2 roods and 14 perches lying in le Knolles which is worth annually beyond reprises 1d. And also the said Elizabeth held on the day she died in dower by the aforesaid assignment and hereditarily, as aforesaid, 4 acres 2 roods as from 14 ½ acres lying in four separate pieces of land in Wydesbrook which is worth annually beyond reprises 16d. And also 6 ½ acres 26 perches of land 10 ½ feet as from 20 acres in scattered pieces of land there lying on le Hyefeld which are worth annually beyond reprises 15d. And also she held on the day she died in dower hereditarily, as aforesaid, by the assignment of the said John Gyffard 5 acres 1 food 13 perches 5 1/2 feet of land from 16 acres on five doles lying in Dylewykhay which is worth is worth annually beyond reprises 2d. And also she held on the day of her death by the assignment of the said Escheator hereditarily, as aforesaid, 2 acres 35 perches 9 feet of land and pasture as of 6 1/2 acres 26 perches 11 feet lying in Le Hay which is worth annually beyond reprises 16d. And also she held on the day of her death in dower hereditarily, as aforesaid, from the assignment of the said Escheater (either in part or three parts] of two parts of all parcels of pasture with ways, underwoods and other [ ] in Le Park which is worth annually beyond reprises 6d. And also she held on the day of her death in dower hereditarily, as aforesaid, by the assignment of the said Escheator 2 acres of land as from 6 acres of land in Le North [? land] worth annually beyond reprises 8d. And also 11/2 acres 26 perches 5 feet of land as from 5 acres near [?] the gate of La Lawnd [?] which is worth yearly beyond reprises 2d. And also 1 acre 18 perches of land as from 3 acres 1 rood 13 perches 8 feet lying in Le Brodecroft which is worth annually beyond reprises 6d. And also 3 1/2 acres and 1 rood 10 perches 8 feet of land as from 22 1/2 acres 26 ½ perches of land in divers furlongs on five doles, that is to say in [...] and in Bekesdole , Reddole, de Le Box, Hyecroft and other doles lying there, which are worth annually beyond reprises 4d. And also 3 acres of land as from 9 acres of land from the third part leased to Thomas Carter on Le Hamerland and in another place in the same furlong and on Le Box which is worth annually beyond reprises 6d. And also 8 1/2 acres meadow and 6 perches of meadow of which each is worth annually beyond reprises 16d. And also 10 acres of wood as from 30 acres of wood in the Great Wood called Daubeneswode which is worth annually beyond reprises 3s 4d. And also 1 acre 1 rood 13 perches 5 1/2 feet of underwood called Impey which is worth annually beyond reprises 12d. And also in the rents of assize of the master of St. Johns Bedford annually 10 1/2d and of rent of assize of the Master of St Leonards Bedford annually 1d. And also from John Baker rents of assize annually 4d. And also ''adquis'' ''per'' the Nativity of our Lord according to the Custom of the manor annually 18d from Simon [?] Roll for tenure of rent of assize 2s and concerning the same late Sayer of the rent of assize 51/2d concern [....] Davey for le Mote together with a dovecote besides reprises 5s. And also the said Elizabeth held on the day she died one acre 2 roods 8 perches 14 1/2 feet of land as from 4 1/2 acres of land 16 perches 11 feet under le Hangyngforlaqnge which is worth annually beyond reprises 4d. And also 3 roods 22 perches 3 1/2 feet as from 2 1/2 acres of land 26 perches 11 feet at Waterbuttes in Le Hamme which is worth annually beyond reprises 2d. And also the said Elizabeth held on day she died in dower by the aforesaid assignment and hereditarily, as aforesaid, 4 acres 2 roods as from 14 1/2 acres lying in four separate pieces of land in Wydesbrook which is worth annually beyond reprises 16d And also 6 1/2 acres 26 perches of land 10 1/2 feet as from 20 acres in scattered pieces of land there lying on le Hyefeld which are worth annually beyond reprises 15d. And also from Richard Swayn 2d. And also from Henry Knolton for his tenement yearly 5s. And also from Robert Bate for one croft against Le Grenewodelande 20d. And also from John Ayswode 1d. And also from Thomas Carter for two [? cottages] 3s. And Also from Thomas Dynot for one cottage 6d. And from John Maister for a tenement late Wytes in Kemston Hardewyk 12d. And also for John Arnald 1/4d. And also for cottage of John Goss.... 12d. And also from Geoffrey Davy for one cottage 3s. And also from John Hyne for his cottage 2s. And also the said Elizabeth held on the day she died in dower by the said endowment out of the assignment of the said Escheator 5 virgates of land of which each virgate of land is now worth annually beyond reprises 8s. And also she she held on the of her death in dower out of the said assignment of the Escheator hereditarily, as aforesaid, 3s 4d for a third part of two parts from rent called Le ?[Yeld] worth annually 20d. And also a third part of two parts of 3 closes called Wynyerd, Pressyons Orcherd and another close next the rivers called West Orchard which are worth annullally beyond reprises 2s. And also she held on the day of her death a third part of two parts of all profits both from the free tenants and from bondsman with herriots and with perquisites of court according to the custom of the manor which are worth annually beyond reprises 3s. And they say that a whole third part of the aforesaid manor of Kemston is held from the lord king by service of the third part of a half of one knight's fee as from the honour of Huntyngdon. And they say that the said Elizabeth held nothing more or other lands or tenements from the lord king nor from any other person in demesne nor in service in the country aforesaid on the day she died. And they say that the said Elizabeth named in the said writ died on 24 July last past before the day of the taking of this Inquisition and that Thomas Goldyngton is the next heir of the same Elizabeth named in the writ and is of the age of 28 years and more. And they say that the said Giles Dauveney knight is of the age of 40 years and more in witness whereof the said jurors have appended their seals to this inquisition given the day place and years abovesaid."
