- Scope and ContentJames Gray of Shillington, labourer - last Tuesday morning he left his watch hanging near his bed'd head. When he got home he was told by Mary Ann Harris that the watch had been stolen. Mary Ann Harris, singlewoman - last Tuesday she was keeping James Gray's house. About 12pm she saw the watch hanging on a nail in the chimney corner of the house room. She had seen a little girl bring it downstairs and put it there. Shortly after she walked out with the child for quarter of an hour. As she was coming back she saw William Bonest standing near Gray's door. A few minutes later she saw the watch was gone. She told her father and he went after Bonest. Francis Roberts, police constable No 10 - hearing that Bonest was suspected of stealing a watch he went after him to Millbrook and took him into custody. He took the watch now produced out of his pocket. Bonest was very violent and kicked and struck him. William Bonest - he found the watch hanging in the house and took it away.
