    About 31 years of age. Born in Radwell, parish of Felersham, where his father Samuel Swannell resided and belonged. Married in the church at Felmersham about 10 years ago to his wife Frances by whom he has five children, namely Ann aged 9, Mary aged 8, Elizabeth aged 6, Lucy aged 4 and Priscilla aged about 18 months, none of them having gained a settlement. About eight years ago he hired a house and premises of Nathaniel Small at Felmersham by the year at the rent of eleven pounds, he lived in the house the whole year and paid rent and taxes. He continued in Felmersham until about two and ahalf years ago when he let himself to Dr Macqueen at Stotfold as bailiff at 15 shillings a week. He continued there about a year and a half. About 1 November 1825 he hired a house in St Paul, Bedford at three shillings a week til Old Lady Day last. He still continues in the house. He hired a butchers shop in St Paul about a fortnight after last Christmas at the rent of 5 guineas per annum. He has paid one quarter's rent for the shop and three pounds nine shillings rent of the house. He gave up the key of the shop and possession the day after Michaelmas Fair last and has not done any other act to gain settlement.
