    Uriah Savage: went to the Nags Head in Chawston with his cart and horse. The cart contained about 60 tubs of grease belonging to Christopher Calthorpe grease manufacturer of Norwich. He saw the tubs that night, but next morning missed 3. William Neal: Jacob Hull was at the Nags Head on the same evening drinking with Uriah Savage. Next morning, he found 2 of the tubs of grease hidden in a crop of wheat, close to his house. James Wayman: Hull asked him what was in the cart, and Wayman told him tubs of grease. Later that evening, he saw the accused becoming back from a field and he was close by the cart. Next day the grease was missed. Wayman went with Mr Neal and found 2 tubs of grease in the wheat field where he had previously seen the accused. Peter Addington: on 21 July he passed Jacob Hull, hoeing turnips in a field. Hull asked him if he wanted to buy a tub of grease as he had found one coming to work that morning. William Nicol: apprehended Jacob Hull. Hull stated he had picked up a tub on his way to work but knew nothing of the other 2 which had been found.Statement of the accused: said that he had not gone near the cart. He had a tub in the ditch by the side of the road on his way to work, and had taken it to the field with him.
