- Scope and ContentGeorge Kendall: in December 1848 had had a goose and a gander. On 23 December the gander was missing. There were marks of footprints near the goose house. Following reports, he accompanied police constable Neal to the house of Foskett and found under the bed goose feathers. George Cooper: after Christmas 1848 he went to the house of Charles Foskett, where he was working in his garden. Cooper saw a goose or gander head lying on the ground. Joseph Neal: whilst in custody for killing and stealing Mr Pain's sheep, Charles Foskett was asked by George Kendall if he knew anything of his missing gander and the feathers which had been found. Foskett, said he had taken the gander, hidden it for a couple of days and then eaten it.Statement of the accused: had nothing to say except that he was sorry.
