- Scope and ContentThomas Manton: worked as a gardener in the St John parish of Bedford. The accused had worked for him for approx. 6 years. Taylor rents a cottage, which is in a garden occupied by Thomas Manton. From information received by Manton from his sons, George and William, he visited the cottage and found potatoes inside. He had potatoes in the pit in the garden and in a nearby barn, to which Taylor had the key. George Manton: saw some potatoes in Robert Taylor’s house. They were like the ones his father, Thomas, had in his barn. He went with his father to the property the next morning and also noticed some white peas there; like the ones held by his father in the barn. The barn is in the field with the pigs and feeding the pigs was the duty of Robert Taylor.
